We know it’s cold outside, but spring-like days in North Carolina are just weeks away. That Carolina sunshine is perfect for a spring patio cleaning day.
We recommend a lightweight pressure washer to wash off your furniture. Pressure washers are the easiest way to remove mold, mildew, and dirt, making your furniture look new.
You’ll need a washer that produces about 18 times the pressure of a garden hose. Roughly any power washer rated 1,000 PSI (pounds per square inch) will work well. It’s important to note that the appropriate PSI can vary depending on the type of patio furniture material. Some delicate materials might require lower pressure.
The washers that have “soap cannons” are the easiest. These are technically called “detergent tanks” or “soap tanks”. With a soap option and a wand that adjusts to 15, 25, or 40 degrees, you will eliminate pre-scrubbing by hand.
There are three power options for pressure washers: Gas-powered, plug-in, or battery-powered.
If you want portability or a machine that fits easily into a storage space, the new DeWalt FlexVolt 60V MAX 1,000 PSI Power is a nice option.
For more powerful gas-powered options, consider the Green-Power GNW3324A Pressure Washer. Last time we checked, this unit was on sale for $340 on Amazon.
The Greenworks GPW2301 Pressure Washer got an excellent rating from Consumer Reports. This is an electric model that will run you about $360. It runs on 120 volts and has a 2300 PSI. This one is appropriate for use around the house, RV, or boat, weighing only 38 pounds.
Other less expensive models that do a great job include:
- Worx WG604 Pressure Washer – Usually priced around $170 at most big box stores.
- Black+Decker BEPW1850 Pressure Washer – Priced between $119 – $169
- Stihl RE 90 Pressure Washer – Reliable Brand Name – Priced at $200
Safety Tip: Always wear safety glasses when using a pressure washer.
